The names have been transcribed as well as possible due to the nature of the image
Some names may change when I have rechecked the transcribing
I thought I'd make them available straight away.
This has been updated to include new records

1706 to 1720
The date of Baptism has been torn off and therefore unavailable

Mid 1835 to mid 1836

1896 to 1902
I will add later records soon up to 1908 in keeping with the 100 year rule

Things I've Learnt

Since becoming an OPC and taking my research to a further level that personal Genealogy I have learnt some interesting things:

In the 1890s burials were performed on Christmas Day!

In the Parish of Lanteglos-by-Fowey if you survived infancy there was a good chance you would live to a very good age 70+

Parish records often have lots of information in poor handwriting or minimal information in easy to read handwriting, c'est la vie!

As well as a core group of families who were firmly routed in the parish there are families who seemed to have had lots of baptisms or burials but no both! I guess people moved into the parish once they were passed the child rearing stage (or had healthy children who all survived!)

The OPC for Lanteglos-by-Fowey is Susan Penter

This website is a working group for anyone with a genealogical interest in the Parish of Lanteglos-by-Fowey in Cornwall. As the OPC I will keep you up to date with the status of the transcription process and try my best to help you with your research as soon as possible.

Lanteglos-by Fowey and the surrounding area mean a lot to me personally, my Great Great Grandfather Nathaniel Penter built the Chapel of Ease St. Saviour's (shown above right) as well as the girls school.

I hope that people will be able to contribute to this space so that it begins to reflect the memories of many whose ancestors have lived in the parish over the years.

If you are unfamiliar with Wiki style websites this is a simple guide to getting the most out of our space:

If you would like to be able to add content to the site you first need to register, this is just to stop spammers etc

The discussion forum is a good place to make general information request (of course confidential e-mails can be sent as well), I will keep you up to date on this page of my progress transcribing the data. It is also a good place to share stories with others about the parish and it's bygone residents.

The photo gallery can be used to share general photos or pictures of specific family events that took place in the parish like weddings etc, as the demand grows I will set up appropriate albums.

The members page not surprisingly lists the members of the website and allows people to contact each other.

The to-dos page becomes populated when people add to-dos from other pages, this is not requests for information but changes to the site. If you are unsure about this you are not likely to be creating them.

You can always create your own page as well for instance featuring a particular family who's history is connected to the parish.
